Before You Hire a Contractor

•     Get Multiple Quotes: We encourage customers to obtain at least 2–3 estimates for comparison.

•     Verify Licensing: Always confirm that your contractor holds an active Home Improvement License. You can verify our Suffolk County license here.

•     Request Proof of Insurance: Ask to see valid general liability insurance and workers' compensation where applicable.

•     Understand the Scope: Make sure all work, timelines, and costs are clearly outlined in writing before any work begins.

Your Right to Cancel (New York's "Three-Day Rule")

If you sign a home improvement contract at your residence, you have the legal right to cancel the agreement without penalty within three business days. You must notify the contractor in writing within this cancellation window.

Additional Best Practices

•     Never pay the full price upfront. A reasonable deposit is standard, with remaining payments tied to project milestones.

•     Ask for receipts and keep copies of all documentation.
